THE
STORY AND PHILOSOPHY OF DRAKE’S BATTER MIX COMPANY
Drake’s Batter Mix Company was founded in 1937 by Al Drake,
originator of Drake’s Krispy Fry Mix in Grass Lake, Michigan
and was the first batter mix commercially manufactured in the
United States. Many batter mixes have followed Drake’s
onto the market scene, but none can match the quality and consistency
of the original batter mix. Al Drake continued to produce Drake’s
Krispy Fry Mix in the plant at Grass Lake until his death in
1967. Drake’s Crispy (now spelled with a “C”)
Fry Mix was produced in the Grass Lake plant until 1988 when
the plant moved to its present location in Marshall, Michigan.
The new facility enabled us to triple production levels.
Drake’s is a small company looking forward to expansion
of its product lines, production facilities, and delivery capabilities.
However, because of the image which Drake’s carefully
established over the years, that expansion will be undertaken
without the sacrifice of its longstanding philosophy:
Drake’s is an established family operation,
producing Original Crispy Fry Mix since 1937. Our concern
is for our customers, no matter how large or small their operation
may be, each and everyone is important to us. We do not contemplate
competing with the “giants” of the industry as
we feel this would be detrimental to our standards. Drake’s
will concentrate on its strengths which include producing
quality blends, offering exceptional service to our customers,
and being valuable to our customers because we guarantee all
the products manufactured by Drake’s Batter Mix Company.
Drake’s Batter Mix Company produces only the highest quality
products and will continue to emphasize this standard in whatever
expansion we undertake. Drake’s receives a great deal
of interest and business from its “Quality, Service, and
Value” standard. We actively promote our products and
look forward to increased business for the entire product line.
